Keeping It Local: Red Onion Woodworks

Red Onion Woodworks might not be local to Portland, but they are located just an hour.5 south of this lovely city - five minutes away from the first college I graduated from. I came across their lovely cutting boards on Etsy and fell in love with the salvaged black walnut board pictured above. Isn't it beautiful??!

Camille, the owner, takes sustainability very seriously. She even lives in a 450 square foot cabin at the end of a gravel road with her husband and two children. I love when families live in tiny houses together. All the cutting boards are made using locally sourced wood, including trees taken out of backyards by arborists and hardwood logs salvaged from industrial logging operations. She reused or repurposes shipping material and applies a non-toxic finish to all of her cutting boards and serving trays.

I love Oregon and it's craftspeople.

Local Designer

Oregon State fashion design graduate, Amanda Grisham, created a line out of Pendelton textiles. Are these bad ass or what?! Besides the fact that these dresses are awesome and unique, she has the same great name as me, she is a fellow OSU alumni, and she created a collection out of a local (Oregon) companies fabric. Thanks for entertaining my eyes and being a cool Oregonian, Amanda.

This Is Oregon

I love my state. We really live in a beautiful country, and Oregon is definitely the most magical. Sorry other states. This Is Oregon is a little film that was put together exploring places that are within 90 minutes of Portland, Oregon. If you have a couple minutes it's beautiful to watch. Around 2:30 in, you see my favorite place in the entire world. Adventure is closer than you think! Start exploring!

Keeping it Local: Pendelton

I recently bought my first Pendleton throw blanket and it's maybe the best thing ever. Pendleton has a 100-year heritage as an American brand and it's based right here in Portland. Awesome right? They are committed to making "green" decisions and participate in local events to help our community. Pendleton has been featured in everything from Vogue, to Country Home, to Playboy.
I can't wait for summer time so I can take my blanket to outdoor concerts and picnics!

a little different.

I found this cute little vacation rental while perusing vacation rental houses in Oregon. It's feels like a sweet little modern day fairy tale house and that stove in the kitchen is fabulous. It's in Rhododendron (on Mt. Hood) if you are looking for a little weekend escape with family or friends.

Rad Photos

My buddy Mark is a photographer here in Portland and takes phenomenal photos. He travels around the country and gets out about in our beautiful state as much as possible. His photos always make my day a little brighter so I thought I would share!

Check out his work here!
