Leather Love
Eeeeeeeeeee! I have been a little illusive lately. I know. But, that's because big things are happening in life right now. Everything is big. I will tell you about it soon, I promise, but until then, this Cavett Leather Chair by Crate and Barrel is beautiful don't you think? Mid-century modern makes me weak at the knees, and anything American made makes me even happier. So, when you combine those two things with the sleek lines of this handsome chair - I am left twitterpated.

Rack & Shelf Unite
Look what I found. Cool right? It's a shelf...and a bike rack! Maybe I am easily mesmerized, maybe this is a great idea, or maybe it's both. If your bike is a member of the family, maybe like a beloved pet or even a child, and you don't like to keep him outside in the cold - here is a stylish and practical solution. The Bike Shelf can be found at Knife & Saw or a less expensive, and less stylish version at CB2.
I know my roomie would love it if my bike wasn't leaning against our wall acting as a booby trap for unsuspecting guests.

Yellow Leaf
So while I was at Wanderlust, I was introduced to these fun hammocks by Yellow Leaf. They are cute and comfy AND the company is devoted to economic health, environmental stewardship, social equity, and cultural vitality. You can leave your hammocks out in the rain without fear of mildew or color fading. Important here in the north west. They also support up to 550 lbs - SO you don't have to hammock alone.
Hammock happily with a glass of lemonade, consider snuggling up with someone really attractive, read a good book, or take a nap.

oh the eames..
Who doesn’t love the Eames husband and wife team?
They completely transformed the furniture world by creating lean, sleek,
simple, and let’s not leave out beautiful, furniture. They created more than a
new look during the design revolution of the 40’s and 50’s – they had grand
ideas about saving the world. They wanted to design for ordinary people to
bring more simplicity and pleasure to the life of the “average Joe.”
Ironically, their once affordable furniture is now anything but affordable but
every bit as stylish and functional.
Charles and Ray Eames were an amazing couple. They
created some of the most influential designs of the 20th century,
and they didn’t stop there. This versatile pair made films, designed houses and
showrooms, and invented toys. More importantly, they showed the world that good
design can improve our quality of life.
Do you have a list of living and dead people that
you would invite to a dinner party? The Eames’ are definitely on my invite
list.

Bliss Sofa
I love West Elm's Bliss Sofa. It's so comfy and great for lounging around with friends or afternoon naps. The deep single seat cushion and flanged seams keeps things looking simple and clean. This will be the next sofa I bring into my life.

Poet Sofa
Finn Juhl designed the Poet Sofa in 1941 in Copenhagen. His home is now a part of the Ordrupgaard Museum. Being connected to the landscape was something that Juhl both lived and practiced, and the influence is notable in the organic forms of his furniture. Juhl was a true sensualist and created his furniture to be comfortable, made with the best craftsmanship traditions and showed an appreciation of materials.
I am a sucker for Danish modern design. Find the Poet Sofa at Design Within Reach.

danish modern sofa
I love Danish modern, oh so very much. I am surprised that I am drawn to the upholstery in on this sofa, but I think it's fun and retro without looking dated.

Bed Swing
Now.. I don't think I would ever have a bed swing in my room, but this one is lovely to look at. Oh! Maybe on a covered porch for afternoon naps?

Womb Chair
In tribute to my obsession with chairs, I thought I would talk a little bit about Eero Saarinen's Womb Chair. Designed for Knoll, the Finnish born architect and designer was challenged to create a chair that Florence Knoll could curl up in. The Womb Chair's enveloping, lap-like form continues to be one of the most iconic and recognized representations of mid-century Scandinavian organic modernism.
Another plus. They are manufactured in the USA.
