Here is a pretty good article about yoga's benefits - and they are abundant. Below are the first two paragraphs from the article and then it goes into different benefits. Anyhoo, check it out if you feel like learning something.

But if you've ever tried telling a newbie how it works, you might find that explanations like "It increases the flow of prana" or "It brings energy up your spine" fall on deaf or skeptical ears." -I don't think anyone explains it to non yogis this way, but sure, that would fall deaf on skeptical ears.
