Studios in the Forest

Feldman Architects created two studio spaces - one for art, one for yoga - on a steep lot next to an existing main house in California. The goal was to make the projects as "green" as possible.
One of the solutions was creating two separate buildings, nestled on flat sites against the hillside, to protect as many trees as possible. The lower studio has a beautiful living roof, visible from the studio above, that was designed in a natural way using all native plants. It's also easy to hop on the roof from the walkway above so that the owner can easily garden.
How wonderful.
